WHATThe need to differentiate from the increasing number of venture capitalists in 2000 prompted a successful dot-com entrepreneur to employ XtraMark’s team to develop a logo for his new firm.
WHYHis love of surfing and global philanthropy is integral to his identity and it was important to have a logo that reflected this philosophy along with his mission to find like-minded entrepreneurs seeking backing. |

Initial renditions were in black and white, an important step. The design must work in B&W before enhancing with color. Once a color design was finalized a full graphics standards package was created to ensure consistently in all uses.
The end result appropriately represents the vision and values of this VC firm.

Two key images emerged. The first was a globe to illustrate the willingness to fund ventures anywhere in the world along with a philanthropic emphasis on planetary concern. The second was a surfing dolphin that combined the client’s love of surfing with the caring traits of the dolphin.
